Riot at Dead Prez concert in Olympia, Washington

This is an article I found on www.bombsandshields.blogspot.com

This incident sounds so much more like the things that happen in France and Greece, not the states. It is exciting to see people in the U.S. are not completely docile.  People need to do more standing up to authority figures and taking back the streets and the world. Because this sort of action is relatively commonplace in other countries I think a lot of radical people will not be too thrown by it happening here. People who have been reading radical news sources have seen this happening in other countries for quite a while now.

Olympia, Washington, U.S. – A hip-hop concert featuring the revolutionary emcee duo Dead Prez ended in a riot that saw tens of thousands of dollars in damaged and stolen police property. Read the rest of this entry »

Anarchists Against Voting

This is an article I wrote for the school newspaper- Hampshire College’s The Climax. They told me only 650 words, which made it very difficult to make my argument in this op-ed. Comments would be welcome, as I would like to develop a much stronger piece for future use in a zine.

Personal Hygiene – From Cuddle Puddles and Hot Pants #2

Personal Hygiene- Or The Way I Smell and Why it is Ok

My friend James has this really good way of putting the whole ‘personal hygiene’ issue. He says, that when people cover up their natural body smells -with deodorant, perfume, cologne, whatever- they are being liars. Liars. Read the rest of this entry »

Why I workout…from Cuddle Puddles and Hot Pants # 2

Why I Workout:

For a lot of people who are not normal people (yes, this means you, you crazy anarchist, vegan, transient, queer, atheist, radical, whathaveyou) working out and exercise in general have this huge Jock stigma. I think that at least some of this stems from high school experiences with who does sports, and what they are like. It even carries into the real world. A lot of the people you encounter through sports and exercise are blatantly not radical. They might even be obnoxiously Christian/capitalist/racist/sexist/homophobic etc. However, it is short sighted to let a whole bunch of fools ruin an entire aspect of our lives for us. This article is my attempt to encourage radicals to get physical in the athletic sense. I propose an alternative to status quo athletic attitudes. Why drop out of the sporting world, when we can adapt it to suit ourselves?

Curtis J. Holt

This is an article I wrote on Curtis J. Holt  Sr. for Issue # 2 of my zine  Cuddle Puddles and Hot Pants.  I figured I should publish this stuff online too so more people can read it.

The Civil Rights era is a time period that continues to interest me, and specifically as related to my hometown of Richmond, Virginia. In an attempt to expose other people to this amazing and under represented history I am going to reproduce the history of Curtis J. Holt Sr., who was an African American civil rights activist in Richmond. Read the rest of this entry »
