Riot at Dead Prez concert in Olympia, Washington

This is an article I found on

This incident sounds so much more like the things that happen in France and Greece, not the states. It is exciting to see people in the U.S. are not completely docile.  People need to do more standing up to authority figures and taking back the streets and the world. Because this sort of action is relatively commonplace in other countries I think a lot of radical people will not be too thrown by it happening here. People who have been reading radical news sources have seen this happening in other countries for quite a while now.

Olympia, Washington, U.S. – A hip-hop concert featuring the revolutionary emcee duo Dead Prez ended in a riot that saw tens of thousands of dollars in damaged and stolen police property. The incident began when a campus police officer arrested a suspect on misdemeanor assault charges. The show had ended but the performers, still onstage, allegedly egged on the crowd saying, “They’re taking one of our people. Go take care of it.”

A crowd of maybe two dozen concert-goers surrounded the police car, forcing them to release the arrested individual. The arresting officer and her backup was unable to start her patrol car and hastily abandoned it as the crowd swelled to 200 strong. Rioters smashed in the cruiser’s windows, graffitied the car and looted its contents, which included a laptop and radar gun before flipping the car over. Officers in riot gear later arrived on the scene and were greeted with a hail of bottles and rocks. More police cars were damaged but less seriously than the first. Police made no arrests, but said that they hope to find DNA on the destroyed cruiser that will lead them to suspects.

As a witness i just wanted to clarify that the police arrived, gathered in a formation and proceeded to divide the people who were circled around the police car directly outside
the Community Recreation Center (CRC). The police took the FIRST acts of violence
against the people by pepper spraying directly point blank in the face of the civilians.

When reporting about situations and putting information out to the public it is important to have the story straight.

This was another example of what happens when an oppressive force like the Olympia Evergreen State College Campus Police and Thurston County Police attempt to take a stance of power and control over the community.

    Violence begets more Violence.

The Power is the People, The People are the Power.

Yah, I agree with the previous caller’s statement of FUCK OPPRESSION!!!!! Police are definitely the most negative presence in my life. I was recently pointed out to the FBI and BATF because some right-wing wackos (some of whom are cops/soldiers or used to be found my blog to be “dangerous.” Even though I am not breaking any laws why should I have to be looking over my shoulder (literally and figuratively) every day. Fuck the state and fuck the state hiring armed thugs to control me!
